In Madmen the main men where talking about this Volkswagen ad. They were making fun of the ad saying that they didn't know whether to make fun of the car or the ad. As the men were discussing the ad Don Drapper said that the company had a clean and simple ad and that the company was still going strong, also they had been talking about the ad for about 15 minutes instead of something like the latest playboy. Most important fact from Madmen was that even though they didn’t understand the ad or like it, the ad made the men talk about it for 15 minutes.

week 6 [eoc] favorite soup
Strangely enough soup is one of my favorite foods. My favorite type of soup would probably be minestrone soup. I think one of my favorite brands of minestrone would be the one from Olive Garden. Even though Olive Garden isn’t my favorite places to eat, they make good minestrone. I also like Carrabba’s soup too. Carrabba’s soup has a different blend of veggies, beans, and spices that is a different but satisfying. I like minestrone because unfortunately I usually don’t eat all the recommended veggies so eating minestrone soup gives me some of the veggies I would normally forgotten. I also like it because it’s healthy and isn’t very fatty. It also has no meat so it’s a good thing to eat when I want to take a break from being a carnivore.
A soup I would recommend to Campbell’s would be more of an update to a soup they already have. I would love to have a cheesy potato, when I think of comfort soup that is one of the first soups that come to mind. I think for a name the soup should just be called “Cheesy Potato” because if the name is too fancy it would confuse the buyers. Campbell’s already has a baked potato soup, which has cheese and bacon in it, but I think if they just cut out the bacon and added a few more spices it would be delicious! If Campbell’s made the Cheesy Potato soup right it would remind me of when my grandma would make me soup when I was sick, good childhood memories. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!

week 5 [eoc] super bowl commercial 2010
To be completely honest, I do not like football so I did not watch the Super Bowl this year. I did however Youtube the “Best Super Bowl Ad of 2010” and I must say I wasn’t too impressed. Most of the commercials were dumb and not very interesting. I did find some ads that I enjoyed and most of those ads were made by Doritos. One of my favorite commercials was basically a little kid snapping his mother’s new boyfriend. In the commercial the mom walks her boyfriend into her house and as she is walking to her room to grab something her boyfriend “checks her out” then sits on the couch with the son. The boyfriend grabs a chip and the little boy snaps him and says, “Put it down, one keep your hands off my momma and keep your hands off my Doritos.” When I saw that commercial I couldn’t stop laughing. I don’t know why but physical humor is hilarious. My other favorite ad was another Doritos commercial but it only was available online. The commercial had this older man walking up to a vending machine to buy some Doritos. The man drops a coin and steps back to go find where it went. As the man is going back to the machine a younger guy puts a dollar into the machine but the chips get stuck in the little clamps that hold them in. The guy bangs on the machine and as he’s doing that the old guy tazes the younger guy. The younger guy falls against the machine and the chips fall. The commercial ended with the old guy enjoying his chips and the young guy walking all disoriented in the background. Once again, physical humor is hilarious and I replayed that one commercial at least five times. I think these commercials were successful because like myself, Americans love physical humor.

week 4 [eoc] mad men
week 4 [eoc] superbowl commercial
One of my favorite super bowl commercials is the commercial from E-Trade. The commercial is only half a minute but I believe it is effective. The commercial shows a baby who is telling you about how he saved money and rented a clown. I have always loved the E-Trade commercials because they are so funny. I think it is funny because the baby is talking like he is an adult and I don't really know why but it’s just funny to me. I think the reason why it is so effective is because the character used is a baby and the baby is talking like an adult so people would stop an watch because it's not normal. Another reason is because the commercial gets acrossed the fact that you can save money by switching and signing up for E-Trade. I love watching the E-Trade commercials! They are hilarious!

week 3 [eoc] great customer experience
When I think of a great customer service experience my experiences at Carrabba’s Italian restaurant comes to mind first. My family and I love going to Carrabba’s to eat, not only do they have great food and a nice atmosphere, the servicers are very kind and attentive. One time when I went with my mom, the restaurant was extremely busy due to the lunch rush and after about 25 minutes of waiting we were seated and the server took our order. After waiting for a while the server brought our meals out like usual and I guess the server misheard my order and brought me something completely different. I was just expecting to get my original order and that’s it but I was surprised how the server handled the situation. The server was very apologetic and quickly sent my plate back to get the right order. Well after having a delicious meal the server brought over a slice of cake and gave me a $10 gift card for the trouble, basically paying for my meal. It made me feel like they actually cared about me and my opinion. I know that it wasn’t my fault for what happened but seeing how hard the server worked to recover from the miscommunication made me feel like I was truly appreciated. Whenever my family can’t decide where to go eat Carrabba’s usually is one of the first restaurants we want to go to. Some restaurants just want your money but the people at Carrabba’s make sure that you leave satisfied and smiling.

week 2 [eoc] my favorite fast food
week 2 [eoc] my demographic
According to the marketing book I am a part of Generation Y. Generation Y is described as being born between 1979 and 1994, population of 60 million, and purchasing power of $200 billion annually. The book also describes Generation Y as being impatient, family-oriented, inquisitive, opinionated, diverse, time managers, and street smart. It also states that the best marketing for Generation Y would be word of mouth. For the most part I fit my demographic completely but the only thing that I don’t match is that good time management. I don’t mind being summed up by the book in this way. I agree that the best way to market yourself is by word of mouth because that is what has been working for me recently. I believe this book gives a good and fair summary of the people in my demographic.

week one [eoc] voice
Nobody starts out being perfect and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it would be, never give up on a dream that truly makes you happy. I try my best to make each picture better than the last and try to learn from past mistakes and “screw ups”. I can’t take all the credit though. My family and friends have supported my passion for photography from day one.
Being a photographer I have had the opportunity to see and experience a lot of amazing places and meet several wonderful people. My passion for photography was always there but I never really thought I could make anything of it. Each experience I encounter has shown me that photography can be a stable career. I love how with just a push of a button I could freeze a moment in time that can be shared worldwide. I have taken pictures for several different types of photography ranging from landscapes and studio still life to the glamorous fashion and weddings. It may seem silly but I try not to focus on one particular type because I would like to consider myself a “jack of all trade”.
